About Nadia Tyson
Nadia Tyson is a dynamic multi-disciplinary artist based in Los Angeles whose work spans documentary photography, abstract painting, and writing. With over two decades of experience as a portrait and documentary photographer, she brings a sharp observational eye to her contemporary abstract and expressionist paintings, layering depth, form, and texture into each piece. Raised between the United States, Costa Rica, and Sweden, her multicultural background deeply informs her artistic and storytelling approach. A lifelong lover of vibrant color and fine art editing, she creates large-scale compositions that blend oils, pastels, and acrylics. Nadia holds a degree in Cultural Anthropology from UCSB and a Master’s in Teaching, and when she’s not painting or photographing, she teaches photography to middle school students in Los Angeles. She also balances her creative life with motherhood, raising her two-year-old while continuing to explore new artistic directions.
