About Nadia Tyson

Nadia Tyson is a dynamic multi-disciplinary artist based in Los Angeles, CA, whose diverse body of work spans documentary photography, abstract painting, and writing. With over two decades of experience as a travel and portrait photographer, Nadia approaches her art with the keen observational eye of a documentarian, infusing her contemporary abstract and expressionist paintings with depth, form, and texture.

Raised between the United States, Costa Rica, and Sweden, Nadia’s exposure to different cultures has deeply influenced her work, shaping her approach to both art and storytelling. Her travels to over fifty countries, coupled with a fascination for vibrant colors and fine art editing, have inspired her to create large-scale abstract paintings that blend oils, pastels, and acrylics into striking compositions.

Nadia holds a degree in Cultural Anthropology from UCSB and a Master’s in Teaching. When she’s not painting or documenting the world around her, she teaches photography to middle school students in Los Angeles. Her passion for people photography and the stories they tell continues to shape both her creative practice and her work as an educator. At home, Nadia enjoys spending time with her 2-year-old, balancing motherhood with her ever-evolving artistic pursuits.
